Our missions

Institutional cooperation mission

Institutional cooperation is one of the National frequency agency’s missions and, as such, it maintains relations with the foreign administrations in charge of spectrum management. It can also exchange experts (see article R.20-44-11 of the French Postal and Electronic Communications Code). The purpose of such cooperation is to create lasting relationships and links with the ANFR's counterparts around the world.

These relationships can take the form of:

  • bilateral cooperation agreements;
  • exchanges of experience (by hosting delegations or organising specific training courses in France);
  • providing expertise to our counterparts (through the organisation of missions by ANFR engineers and/or technicians);
  • donations of spectrum monitoring equipment;
  • exchanges using written questionnaires, telephone discussions or virtual exchanges, etc.

The purpose of these initiatives is to support our counterparts, at their request, in their work on specific subjects or trades or to exchange points of view or working methods on topics of common interest, including on their respective missions and organisational methods.

Institutional cooperation actions also aim to explain French and European positions to facilitate coordination or negotiations, particularly in the run-up to and at World Radiocommunication Conferences (WRCs), World Telecommunication Development Conferences (WTDCs) and ITU Plenipotentiary Conferences (PPs).
