Assignees

The ANFR is attached to the Ministry for Electronic Communications. Its day-to-day working partners are, at the national level, assignment authorities, operators and industrials.

A frequency band assignment authority is a ministerial department, or an institution representing it, or an independent administrative authority with access to one or more frequency bands:

  • for its own use in the case of a ministerial department;
  • or with a view to assigning frequencies to third parties in the case of an independent administrative authority (for example, the ARCEP deals with telecommunications operators and the Arcom with audiovisual operators).

This definition can be extended to other entities to take into account the specificities of overseas areas.

The representatives of the assignment authorities sit on the Agency's Board of Directors and on the consultative committees it has set up.
