What is interference?

Interference is electromagnetic energy caused by emissions, radiation or induction that deteriorates, hinders or interrupts the operation of radio communications transmitters and / or receivers. Interference can have a wide variety of causes, from radio transmissions by unauthorised or faulty radio sources to unintentional emissions of electromagnetic interference generated by electric, electronic or radio equipment that is non-compliant, obsolete or incorrectly configured.

Frequency band interference hinders or even prevents all uses of that band inside a given area.

Deliberate or unintentional interference alters or even denies service to applications that need the frequencies in question to send information or instructions. The effects are on a par with those of hacking attacks.

All sectors and fields of activity, not just radio-communication services, are potentially impacted, including critical or security services.
