Wind turbines vs radars

Between 2005 and 2007, the ANFR analysed the impacts of wind turbines on some radio-communication systems. So as to take into account the technological and characteristic evolutions of both wind turbines and radars, the impact on the latter of the former is studied again.

Introduction of broadband mobile systems in the 2.3-2.4 GHz band in a licensed shared access (LSA) framework

Within the regulatory and standardisation processes background, a study was carried out to define the conditions of introduction of the mobile service (LTE) within the frequency band 2300-2400 MHz in a licensed shared access framework so as to continue to ensure a long-lasting use of the same band by the telemetry systems of the Ministry of Defense.

The current report clarify the coexistence conditions related to the above mentioned sharing situation and is the basis for the preparation of the experiment that the French Minister of State for the Development of the Digital Economy mandated to the ANFR.

Coexistence between radio-astronomy and broadband mobile à 2690 MHz

The current report analyses the coexistence conditions in adjacent band and co-canal at 2700 MHz between the mobile (LTE) and the radio-astronomy services. On the basis of the study results, a set of recommendations is proposed to facilitate the coexistence between mobile service base stations and the stations of the radio-astronomy Nançay site.

Abnormal propagation of electromagnetic waves: phenomena explications

If abnormal or exceptional propagation phenomena are not well-known by the public, their consequences have for sure been noticed by a very large number of people: interference to the TV reception, very long distance reception of foreigners’ FM transmissions, or unexpected coverage of areas by mobile networks where it is not usually the case. The occurrence of such phenomena is as unpredictable as their disappearance. This is exactly this temporal variation which ensures that the cause relies on the abnormal propagation phenomena.
