As part of its missions, the ANFR makes sure the limit exposure values to electromagnetic fields for the general public defined by a Decree n°2002-775 of 3 May 2002, are respected. For this purpose, it draws up an exposure measurement protocol and updates it depending on technological advances. This protocol, which is referenced in the French Journal Officiel, is the reference text for the accredited laboratories that carry out measurements in the field. It is used to obtain reliable and repeatable results.
On 25 September 2017, the ANFR published v4.0 of the measurement protocol. The updates mainly cover connected objects including smart meters. The updates to this protocol were the subject of a prior public consultation to which the contributions are available below for transparency purposes.
